Part of the rumor was that it was difficult to even get an audience with them because their Beverly Hills watch company, Chase-Durer, was so lucrative. I'd have to guess that business hasn't been particularly good the past couple of years, though, so it may have been time to come down from their mountain and tap into the "rainy day funds" to offset those losses.

If they sold luxury watches that shot blades at people who offended you, their sales might have been much better.

Holy shit! That was unexpected, but VERY welcome. The older transfers was pretty damn shoddy.

Definitely one of the more entertaining 80:s B sword & sorcery movies. Some T&A and gore in there as well :D

^Well, that'll pair nicely with The Vampire Lovers giving me another Ingrid Pitt poster and free S&H.

Looks like there's some new titles added to the "Going Out Of Print Soon" page: https://www.shoutfactory.com/page/list/id/282113

I'm semi-tempted by a few but at those prices I'd rather roll the dice on superior editions from someone at some point down the line.

Ugh... and my Target B2G1 already shipped.

Oh well, at least they caught it early, so hopefully replacement discs won't take that long.

I was about to say, "Huh? They already confirmed the newly unearthed decapitation would not be in there. It's even an extra. Did they say they'd put it back ?!?" I'd forgotten there's nudity that's long been cut but included now for a decade. So, we're still not getting the decapitation edited back in like Anolis.

And Cliff, you can't simply blame the lab when you've had the master all this time and done all the other digital work. A lot of eye balls have been on this since the lab; QC should have found it long before now. Just sayin'.

My Target order of Vampire Lovers arrived today. I'm assuming that the replacement program has not rolled out yet. I don't have a Facebook account so sent an inquiry directly to Shout.

I really want Sword and the Sorcerer but I’m going to hold off for a while to see if a region 2 edition gets released. I really don’t want or need a 4K disc and besides they might fuck it up anyways.

Here is the email concerning the replacement disc program for The Vampire Lovers. This is quite unfortunate if the only issue is one second of missing footage.

    Hi there,

It has come to our attention that our recent release of The Vampire Lovers [Collector’s Edition] is missing one second of footage. We apologize for the error and are making a replacement disc available to correct the issue.

Please go to the website below, select “DiscShipment.com Replacement Request Form,” and follow the instructions to receive a replacement disc. Note: you will need to upload a copy of your receipt.

    https://www.discshipment.com

If you have any questions about the status of your replacement disc shipment, please reach out to the following email address directly: info@discshipment.com. Please note that replacements will not begin shipping until January 2022.

The corrected disc can be identified by an "R1," which appears around the ring of the Blu-ray disc.

We apologize for the inconvenience; thank you for your patience!

Question for those who have gone through Shout's replacement programs, do people who bought direct have to go through this as well?

I had to fill this out for the Friday the 13th Box last year which I bought direct from Shout.

I received the Day the World Ended Blu-ray earlier today...

It shipped in a large bubble mailer. The folded poster does come in a labelled ziplock bag with a couple of thin cardboard pieces on both sides to offer some protection.

And at least for once they didn't use a cheap cut-out eco case as they have for many of their recent website "exclusives"

As for the transfer, which I've only scanned through thus far, the grain seems really chunky in some scenes, and in others it's not nearly as strong. I get the impression the transfer may have come from multiple sources, but I could be wrong...perhaps different film stocks were originally used. The aspect ratio is the 2.00:1 OAR, exactly.

Bonus features include the advertised new Corman Interview, which runs at nearly 40 minutes.

The "Theatrical Trailer" is included on the disc, and there is also an "Audio Commentary" by film historian/author Tom Weaver & Music Historian David Schecter — albeit neither are listed on the back cover or Shout's item page for whatever reason.

Detailed screen comparisons are up for The Vampire Lovers: https://caps-a-holic.com/c_list.php?c=6344

It's a pretty substantial upgrade over the older Blu-ray's transfer. And now, the wait for the replacement disc...

I pre-ordered this at Amazon for $30.00. Vinegar Syndrome is currently charging $28.00 to $30.00 for single disc limited edition Blu-ray releases. I personally think all of the boutique labels are collectively overcharging us. This though I think is reasonably priced considering how many discs, the content, and best of all restoration of such a great cult classic.
