I have this on pre-order from Amazon for $10.99, and that's a fine price to check it out so I won't cancel. I'll report back when I receive it. I thought Buio Omega looked better than some thought; I wasn't expecting any miracles with it, and I didn't get any, but it did look better than the DVD and seeing it in motion was better than the screens. Hoping this one might be the same.

It still looks better than some of Arrow's abominations

Mine shipped from Allegro yesterday so I'll judge it for myself when I get it.

In this day and age I just can't understand the people who won't wait until official reviews come out, especially when a company with a reputation like Media Blasters is concerned.

Because the opinions of others mean nothing to me, I like to devise my own.

Well then, by that logic I suggest that you stick a needle in your eye. By all accounts people say that it hurts, but maybe you'd like to devise your own opinion on that, too? ;)

Seriously, though. Media Blasters reputation is HORRIBLE. Why anybody would continue to give them money without seeing what you're buying first is unfathomable. "Oh, sure, we've fucked you guys over many, many, MANY times in the past, but preorder our next DVD release anyways. We've changed. You can trust us."

    I don't bloody think so!

Looks to be a marginal upgrade at best due to chroma noise:

I never buy Media Blaster sight unseen just because you never know what you're going to get. They really have no business releasing anything other than Anime, which is pretty hard to mess up. This Burial Ground release looks like a phony grain/noise filter was applied to it in an attempt to cover up some DNR. In any case I'd only get this if it was in the cut-out bin for dirt cheap.

I don't know if I'd even call it a marginal upgrade. If it looks that bad in motion, I'd probably be constantly thinking "this looks like shit" while watching it — which would negate much enjoyment of the film in HD over simply watching the old DVD upconverted.

Really, this looks like a festering moldy turd flambéd in bubbled piss.

Media Blasters looks to be taking a page from THE STENDHAL SYNDROME and BLACK CHRISTMAS on Blu-ray. Too bad, I'd love a good BURIAL GROUND upgrade.

Nope, mine's still sitting uncharged. I'm keeping it regardless since I sold my DVD since I was satisfied with the Buio Omega Blu and figured this would be of at least equal quality. Woe is me

When I watch Burial Ground, I do what every other god fearing American (or Canadian, British, or Australian) citizen does: I watch it good and drunk. As such, "a little better" isn't going to do very much when you're 5 sheets to the wind. The only reason why I'd ever want a crap film like Burial Ground in glorious "HIGH DEFINITION!" is out of irony.

You know, the transfer wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the damn color grain shit - micro chrome or something like that - that is REALLY distracting.

My copy is on its way from Allegro, should be getting it in time for the weekend so I'll have a few days to give it a spin.

    The framing looks quite odd.

Not every title needs to be on Blu-ray. They should concentrate their efforts (and money) on films that would sell well and may actually benefit from being in hi-def: One Dark Night, an uncut version of Just Before Dawn, Anthropophagus...all would likely be top sellers for them (if done right, of course). I just don't like this mindset of "well, let's put X title on Blu really quick and see what happens".

Well, just received this in the mail today and though I haven't watched the whole thing, I checked out enough scenes to see that, hang onto your dvds boys and girls (and I mean that literally) cause the negative reviews hit the nail right on the head. This so called blu-ray is almost awe-inspiring with how much grain is on the screen at times. Almost like there is actually a layer of static over the picture. For those who were wondering, yes, Media Blasters really did shit the bed with this release. Probably one of, if not the worst title(s) I've ever seen thus far on the format. *sigh*
