On Sunday's Family Guy. The son Chris was attacking Peter with a screwdriver (he thought he was a zombie ... long story)

And Chris said "I've seen the Walking Dead, I have to kill the brain and then talk about it for an hour"

    LOL

...and once again I find myself watching an episode wailing at the television "for the love of God, die already!"

I refuse to watch this show any more, but Fear the Walking Dead has become pretty good. When they kill main cast members they get on with it, they don’t dwell on it with sentimental clap trap.

Yeah, last night was excruciatingly long. I always say that the Walking Dead has become one or two major events wrapped in endless talking and walking around - and that's the season. I no longer find myself excited about it. It's more like, "Oh yeah, that's on tonight."

There's something wrong with me. Again I sat through last night's very special Hallmark channel inspired episode wondering why oh why do I keep watching? I can't stop. I feel a battered wife who keeps returning to her abusive husband.

    Casting notes for major characters:

Lauren Cohan and Andrew Lincoln are leaving Walking Dead next season. She took a role on an ABC show so she will only film 6 episodes. Norman Reedus got a raise of $20 million and will now be the star.

Here how I watch Walking Dead last couple of seasons (no joke)

Fast forward, fast forward, ... oh! some zombies, hit play. Death/kill ... scene over .... Fast forward , fast forward .....

Walking Dead is like watching 80's porn, minus the happy ending.

    Rick's final episode is tonight.

It seemed like he died at the end of the last episode, and the preview for this week looked like a lame ass dream/purgatory send-off episode. Hopefully that isn't the case.

This season has been surprisingly tolerable so far. If tonight's episode goes where I think it's going, it will probably derail again.

So... what did we think of that? Can a time-jump and a fresh start save The Walking Dead?

Worth mentioning, in addition to Andrew Lincoln, that was also Lauren Cohan's final episode for the foreseeable future.

If nobody else is watching this and jumped ship over the past few seasons, I completely understand.

Yeah, I jumped ship two seasons ago. How did Negan get his? Oh, and how did Rick die?

Negan is still alive, he's just in a jail cell. Apparently a fate worse than death.

Rick is also still alive. He was impaled, and he blew up a bridge to save the community, which made them believe he sacrificed himself. Pollyanna McIntosh later found him on the edge of the river, still alive. So he's just separated from the group (apparently AMC will be making separate Rick Grimes movies).

The previous episode ended with a time jump several years ahead, where Rick Grimes' baby is now a badass teenage zombie killer.

    Eh.

Seemed like kind of a cheap way to write Rick out of the show without fully committing to it. Now, it's open-ended so he can return in the future if he wants to. I'm more interested in knowing who the helicopter people are, since they've obviously managed to self-sustain through the entire zombie apocalypse with an unending fuel supply.

Let me put it to you this way: I used to care that TWD was on Sunday nights. This coming Sunday night, the Eagles are playing, and it doesn't even cause me the slightest bit of conflict to watch that over TWD.

Wow, anyone been watching as of late? I’m just about caught up - maybe 3 episodes behind. Ever since Rick left this show has been awful.

I’ve been losing interest the past two seasons. Only a few episodes left this season so I’ll finish it but pretty sure I’m done after that. It was a good run but like most shows, it’s going to lose steam at some point.

This is maybe a spoiler, but considering it was all over the entertainment headlines Monday morning, I guess it's not.

Anyway, the headlines Monday morning after Sunday's episode were "The Walking Dead kills off 10 characters and nobody watched". It was the lowest rated episode of the season, which is pretty much to be expected when it's following a bulk of episodes designed to lull its audience into a coma. You can't really blame the viewers when you have that much contempt for your audience.

So as for the 10 dead, which were revealed via extremely fake prosthetic severed heads... was anyone else like, who is that? I honestly couldn't tell who a single one of them were.

I had to look up who died after, and only recognized three of them. Of which only one of those were a major character (the sister of that rapist Scientology guy from That '70s Show). As for the other 7, I'm fairly confident I've never seen any of them in my entire life. Actually, that's not true, I'm pretty sure I recognized Angus Sampson from the Insidious movies and Fargo Season 2 as one of the severed heads... however, I don't remember seeing him on The Walking Dead before his severed head turned up last week?

Anyway, whatever. Sunday is the season finale. I know I should stop watching, and should have a few seasons ago (specifically with the introduction of the Negan character, a performance so bad it sent Jeffrey Dean Morgan crawling back to Supernatural, which he had abandoned after its first season). But at this point, with the ratings having plummeted from 10+ million viewers each week to 4 million over the past two seasons, I figure they have to be closing up shop pretty soon. I've made it this far, might as well force myself to the end.

^ Wow. You take "hate-watching" to a whole new level. I fully admit, I've not been following the show as closely in recent years, and several times I find myself saying "who's that?" while half-assed watching an episode (usually while also making Sunday dinner, folding laundry. or playing Asphalt 8 on my phone). But I thought the reveal of the heads was pretty shocking, and I recognized most of them. Bummer about Enid, she was gettin' kinda cute.

I'm looking forward to the finale on Sunday, and I haven't been looking forward to an episode of TWD for several years now, so they did something right.

^ It's nice to see Melissa McBride is making some bank for this. She pretty much is the show at this point.

For all the missteps this show makes, her character's arc over the course of the series is pretty outstanding. She's maybe even the biggest reason I keep coming back.

That is the part when I stopped reading the books. Not because of what was happening in the books, but that coincided with the cliffhanger season finale with Negan killing Glen. That bullshit to be continued ending burned me out of all things Walking Dead and I still haven’t been back to either the comics or the show since.

However, I still watch Fear the Walking Dead. I don’t know why but it gets everything right that the original series does wrong. For one thing it isn’t afraid to kill off major characters out of nowhere. With the original series they always save that crap for the finales, and they always made the deaths too frickin sentimental. In Fear they just get down to business.

Word has leaked that tomorrow’s issue of The Walking Dead is the final issue, coming as a complete surprise for most readers.
