A cello prodigy's pursuit for perfection takes a sinister turn.

Word of mouth on the festival circuit is this is not to be missed. NetFlix acquired the rights and will be releasing it this Easter.

Plus, Steven Weber is in it, whom I adore. He did a great podcast interview on Post Mortem last month that is worth a listen.

I'll put it on my list. It seems familiar. It might already be on my list. I still haven't seen that Black Swan horror movie with the dancer. Steven Weber is funny though in the horror series that I've seen.

Doesn't the premise sound the same as Whiplash?

I'll check it out, even if it looks like a B-movie version of "Black Swan".

Loved it, loved it, loved it! One of the best things I've seen this year, it flew by with a sucker punch to my balls at the end, definitely worth seeing.

I also thought this was fantastic and easily one of my favorites of the year so far. When it started, I was thinking it might be a Black Swan type movie only with better chemistry... but that's just the first 15 minutes. After that it shifts into something else, then another 15 minutes later it brilliantly twists into something else. Each wicked twist had me grinning from ear to ear, I absolutely loved it. It's a tough one to market, and it's even tough to talk about what the movie is even about without spoilers. However, I have to say I was a bit shocked to see the Miramax logo before the movie considering what it's about! I wasn't aware Miramax was even still a thing.

I found this just OK, not great. Worth checking out, yes, but definitely won't make any year-end lists for me. Obviously don't want to spoil anything so I'll keep this spoiler-free but while I think it evened out in the end and I liked the overall story, the first 2/3rds were especially rocky and telegraphed and I found every twist was spelled out for the audience too far in advance and I personally knew where it was going to end up in the first 20 minutes of the movie. I think the story has a lot to offer, but just doesn't fully gel in its execution.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I called each "twist" well before they were revealed.

It was a good story though. I recommend catching, especially seeing its on Netflix.

Surprised not to see more discussion of this film here. I found it an entertaining film with lots of interesting elements and a great final scene. However there are too many plot strands, some obvious twists and a problem with tone - is it serious, black comedy or exploitation? The director has admitted he was influenced by Park Chan-Wook and The Handmaiden and you can see what The Perfection was going for but it ultimately missed. Still worth a watch.

Watched this last night and really enjoyed it. I thought the twists were good fun and really loved the cello music. It definitely surprised me.

I went in completely blind and had a blast. I saw the first twist coming (though I'm not sure I could even call it a true "twist") but after that I was surprised at every turn. There's plenty of gore and gross-out moments and a pretty intense lesbian sex scene if you're into that. The most fun I've had with a horror movie in awhile.

The lesbian scene was indeed nice. I appreciated that lol.
