I always thought the Keep was a very entertaining film. My roommate back in the 80's owned it on laserdisc. It's been many years since my last viewing but I've seen the film several times.

Every film no matter how bad has its fans, but many times that fan base simply isn’t large enough to make a release profitable. And as has already been pointed out, neither the director nor the writer even like the film, so when you put it all together there doesn’t seem to be much incentive out there for an expensive 2K or 4K remaster.

Kino actually was prepared to do a 4K remaster, a few years back, but the title got pulled on them for unspecified reasons.

I received the DVD in the mail earlier today. The cover artwork is reversible, so the ratings logos can be absent. The disc is a DVD-9 at 5.5gb in size. No optional subtitles.

The Paramount logo appears when the disc loads. The sole extra is the original fullscreen trailer.

Just browsing through the transfer, it looks pretty good... for a DVD that is. It does look a little soft, but certainly the best I've seen the movie appear before now.

I can post some screenshots from it later if anyone is interested?

    That does look good!

I like close up of eyes with some hair like this to judge quality. And for DVD there's little to complain about here.

    Thanks Kat!
