Cool. Some snow horror movies are in there. It's probably not a good idea to remake a Hitchcock movie though.

Thank you for all these new reasons to live! I always write down the VOD list and put it aside so I have a jump on Dec./Jan dvd release titles and start putting away cash for them.

Just saw on august 11th a movie came out called Uncle Peckerhead. Available on VOD or blu ray. Ordering my blu ray tonight and I only got a hand held player based on the trailer alone.

Plot: A punk rock band goes on tour with a demon possessed roadie.

Hook......you're the man for doing this. Appreciate ya.

My local pop up Spirit Halloween store opens tomorrow. I saw the sign, decided to inquire and said fuck it, got a job there! Haha been just helping set up and break down boxes pretty much. 30% employee discount too......might splurge on a life sized anamatronic Myers or Jason if I'm feeling it.

I can smell October....Rona might of fucked up most of 2020 but I'll be damned if it'll ruin my October and Halloween. LOL cheers

Unfortunately it's not great. There are a few nice instances of gore, a few funny bit's and the acting is fairly decent but it just didn't gel with me. I really didn't like the end. And if the end ain't good then it does have a way of tarnishing all that was seen before.

Oh well... i think Im gonna dig it anyway. In my experience with punk band roadies, I know there is only a blond pube's difference between demonically possessed and found the last 3 bottles of Crazy Horse in existence during the show.

True that. My local news conducted a survey with the locals (Long Island, NY) about parents willing to take their children trick r treating this year. Over 70% said that it was unlikely they would. It's Halloween, a holiday that usually involves wearing a mask. It's the perfect holiday to celebrate during these fucked times we are living in! It'll be a shame if Halloween gets unceremoniously cancelled because of all this. :(

That's shitty to hear. Especially for a suburban north eastern area. Halloween is on a Saturday this year too. Fingers crossed I get a bunch of trick r treaters this year. My Halloween season is not complete until I scare the shit out of at least one little kid. LOL

It's understandable; systematically going door to door in a community to receive hand delivered items you intend to insert into your oral cavity isn't the best idea during a pandemic.

Yeah there are safe practices but get real this is children we're talking about and why school re-openings are going so badly. Plus a Halloween mask is hardly a barrier to communicable diseases. :p

I've been updating the list as more release dates come out, so keep in mind: even if you've seen the line-up now, it should be much more elaborate come October. So keep checking it!

I've added SHUDDER's amazing October line-up, as well as Tales From The Hood 3, the new season of Unsolved Mysteries, premiere dates for cable favorites Supernatural and The Walking Dead, and more. Surprisingly, it's looking like there's no shortage of genre content in spite of film production being shut down most of the year.

To address the Uncle Peckerhead comments, I used the midpoint of August as a starting point, which is why it begins with Lovecraft Country on the 16th. So Uncle Peckerhead just missed the cut. I debated not including August at all and just starting with September, but there was some stuff there that was too good to ignore (can't wait for Bill & Ted and Get Duked!). Plus, I figured come October, there would have been some titles from August and September that people just didn't get around to, so it'd serve as a nice reminder.

That said, Uncle Peckerhead is a cheap rental, so I did give it a look... and I have to agree with hots4 that I just wasn't into it at all. There are a couple gore gags, but it really fails to deliver on the horror front, and the characters / plot just weren't that interesting. I found it very meandering. There was another horror movie released that same weekend that just missed the cut called Spree with Joe Keery from Stranger Things and David Arquette, and I actually thought that one was a lot of fun. That said, I don't think it's a movie I would ever revisit, which makes it a perfect rental. I very much enjoyed it though.

Jumping ahead to this weekend's new releases, I watched SHUDDER's meta-slasher Random Acts Of Violence last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fun little movie with a quick running time, definitely worth a look for slasher fans. I plan to pick up the blu-ray/DVD for this one, which hopefully RLJE / Image will be releasing later this year.

By the time that was over, The Pale Door was available for rental, so I made it a double feature. I also really enjoyed this one. The premise here is unique and I felt there was a lot of missed potential, but it also delivers enough for the movie to work. The cast is good and the evil witch creatures were fun (the initial siege reminded me a lot of Demon Knight). It's definitely worth a look, especially for those who enjoyed movies like Dead Birds, but I will say that it's probably not something I'd revisit or want to own. It's a solid streaming watch though.

I'm dying to see Unhinged, as it looks like the kind of camp trash I oh-so-love, but I don't think I'm quite ready to go back in a theater yet, so hopefully that will make its way to digital very soon.

I think the reason there is so many horror films coming out right now is they are low risk financially. The horror films in theaters right now are generally expected to make profit on dvd sales as the genre itself is low overhead even without theatrical showings, so these theatrical runs we are seeing right now probably wouldnt happen without covid as intermittent quarantines have made too much financial risks for summer blockbusters with huge budgets to be sent out and studios sent in "lesser product" instead that had no loss risk. Theatrical cash on these films are unexpected profit with no risk involved.

For me it'll be 31 nights of home viewing movies that have a 30th, 40th, 50th or 60th Anniversary this year. One film a night for sure and *maybe* a co-feature to go with and lots of vino :)
I have a lot of recent and vintage purchases I've not even opened yet: "Beyond Evil" and many more.
