On Netflix July 15.
It looks pretty cool. I like these throwback 80's gang of kids movies. I liked Super 8 as well and this looks like something in the same vein (albeit less sci-fi and more suspense/supernatural) , so I'll definitely give it a chance.
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this one.
That is awesome poster art! I'm already making plans to watch this with friends and a bowl of popcorn!
LOVED.IT. Every.single.second. My favorite home video experience of 2016.
Yes I'm a child of the 80s. Yes I'm a sucker for all things 80s. I still know good versus great. This was great. It captured the magic of 80s Speilberg - E.T., Goonies, etc. I felt like a kid again. That magical sense of wonder, awe, and adventure. I was sad it ended. I'll be revisiting it again and soon. Cast was amazing. Even Winona, whom I normally can't stand, knocked it out of the park.
Nods to many of the great horror flicks of the 80s, too. I won't name names and spoil it for anyone. See how many you can find.
No spoilers. Just advice. Watch it ASAP.
I didn't know about this series - dang now I need to note yet another thing I need to watch soon! <:
Loved it as well
Just like with the Conjuring movies, they really nailed the era it was set in, and it really DID feel like an 80:s film.
A bit of Spielberg, a bit of Carpenter, and also a hint of Cronenberg and a few shots that would have fit in a Kubrik movie.
Even though there was a lot of homages and nods, to 80:s movies, they didn't hit you on the head with them, it just felt natural.
It was beautifully shot, and the soundtrack was amazing.
Also, those opening titles, are probably the best I've seen in a long time.
I thought all the actors did a great job. And just like in movies from the era, they looked like real people, and not like typical modern TV photo models.
And damn, did the series hit me on the head, with nostalgia. Dungeons and Dragons, BMX bikes etc. Major flashbacks from my childhood back in the 80:s
I really hope they make a sequel or a spin-off, in a near future. I want more!
I saw a trapper keeper!
Me and my wife are HOOKED. Not often she will watch the same things as me so were staggering the episodes, but im so tempted to watch it all this afternoon!
Great interview here. Sounds like Netflix was/is really on board with the show.
Phenomenal show. If only more Stephen King adaptations of the past were made like this. I hope the remakers of It take notice as to how it's done.
Holy shit, I sat down last night to watch this and before I knew it, it was 11:45pm and I'd watched three episodes. This show is perfect so far. I know it's dangerous to say that, but damn, if it isn't exactly what I want. The opening credits, MY GOD: perfect! The kid actors--where did they find these kids? They're perfect! The setting, the posters on the walls, the creep factor, the Christmas lights effects! The sheriff, the mystery, the...everything...
Season 2 plans? YES PLEASE
On that title sequence:
Love that title sequence.
Reminds me a bit of the one to Terminator and the "V" mini series, and it builds up the mood VERY well
Most tv-series and movies, just don't have that kind of title sequences any more.
Either it's just a 5 second flash of the title, or for movies, the come at the end instead.
Or, it's a very elaborate sequence that, while cool, is not as memorable.
Man, finished episode 5 last night, "The Acrobat and the Flea."
Shades of Firestarter in the backstory of the woman who underwent LSD-testing and then birthed a child with special powers.
When El confronts the bullies on top of the canyon, loved it when the kid yelled, "She's our friend, and SHE'S CRAZY!" But, you could see on El's face that she recognizes no matter who she's with, she is
used as a weapon.
Great performance by that young actor--hell, all of them in the past two episodes. Lucas? Love it when he Rambos up!
A few serious scares in the past two or three eps, too. My girlfriend screamed, and I even jumped, at the
So far, my favorite character is Hopper, the sheriff.
If you aren't watching this, you should be!!!
Definitely a terrific throw-back to 1983! So much so, that I was actually pulled out of the mood every time they played a song from the mid/late 80s.
I'd recommend it to any horror/sci-fi fan! Bring on Season 2!
It took me a while to get into this, but I watched the whole thing last Sunday. Definitely worth it. I really hope there's a season 2 that's just as good.
Finished it tonight. Loved it.
