Well, there is a softcore version
Didn't Jim Wynorski make a few Bare Wench Project films?
Yeah, those "horror comedy soft core" bullish. J Roc did it right in trailer park boys, though. Rock pile.........."hard as fuck"
(please tell me I'm not the only TPB fan who gets that?)
I'm sure they already did one!
I know what you're saaaa-ewwwwr-ih-owwrrrrrr-aaayin!
Caught this Friday night.
I'm still kinda wrapping my head around it.....but it was kinda fucking lousy. I don't know if my expectations were too high or what, but I just didn't really enjoy it that much. The last 15-20 mins or so we're OK..... semi creepy but the slow build up really didn't lead to anything spectacular I was waiting for. I think the best scene was when the girl was forced to shimmy herself threw that tiny tunnel in the ground. Very claustrophobic, well shot, made me feel very uncomfortable. It was cool.
Also.....it was a Fridat night at 9pm and the theater only had about 20 people in it. I thought to myself "Aiiight cool, should be a decent crowd with no problems". WRONG. Some nit wit cunty teenager took about 4 phone calls during the movie. LITERALLY was on her phone talking. Then there was another snotrag of a bitch 5 rows down from me constantly checking her phone.....nothing like a big glaring screen popping up during a found footage flick to kill the vibe. I really struggled internally not to flip the fuck out on the useless cunt on her phone, but I was about 8 beers deep and had my one-hitter on me, didn't exactly wanna draw attention to myself. It was awful.
Anyways......yeah, disappointed to say the least in the flick. Not the worst movie I've seen in the theaters, but it wasn't even good enough to wash the original Blair Witch Projects shoes.
I still say the original sucked, and not in the good way.
I can't imagine this being worse.
I had meant to go last weekend, but didn't get around to it. Thinking about going tonight, but haven't decided. It seems like something I could easily wait for to hit disc, but I really like Wingard / Barrett and have always loved the mythology behind the Blair Witch.
Plus, October's theatrical line-up is pretty skimpy this year with the only horror offering being the Ouija sequel, so I should probably go see this horror movie on the big screen because it will be a while before I get to see another.
Rule 34: If it exists, there's a porn of it.
Ahhhhhh. Went straight over my head buddy haha
I ended up going tonight. It was just your typical found-footage movie you'd find on NetFlix. More or less just a remake of the original movie, only ditching the authentic feel. Not something really worth going to the theater to see. In fact, the middle chunk gets pretty dull until they find the house. And like Don't Breathe, the trailer pretty much spoils the entire movie.
Book Of Shadows remains the best of the series by far.
I agree on all fronts. This flick was waaaaaaay too similar to the first one. And you hit the nail on the head......didn't have the authentic feel. The middle was reeeeeeally dull and at one point I said to myself, "the climax BETTER be badass, because this build up has draaaaged" and it just didn't. The house sequences were borderline creepy at best. And the very last frame, I couldn't believe they went that route. Lazy writing, in my opinion. VERY lazy now that I think of it.
Book of Shadows is one of the most underrated horror flicks of this century. People loathe that movie and I never understood why. It genuinely creeped me out the first time watching it. My dvd that I own (the one that contains the CD on the flip side of the disc) skips pretty bad at parts so I'm overdue to purchase it again.
You referenced the Don't Breathe trailer. And you're spot on.......*BORDERLINE SPOILER, even though it's in the trailer* but why they chose to show that girl chained up in the house in the trailer is beyond me. Luckily I missed that prior to seeing it in the theaters but I've seen the trailer a few times since and it blows my mind. No point at all.
I saw this today - it wasn't a great movie but I still enjoyed it. As CPT HOOK and NATAS said it is similar to the original but without the authentic feel. Some of the script and acting falls flat but I found a couple scenes towards the end to be pretty effective. Not groundbreaking but still enjoyable if you are a Blair Witch fan. I would watch it again.
Interesting note regarding Blair Witch if you look at the trivia section on IMDB:
The creature with elongated limbs was revealed by Simon Barrett to actually be one of the victims of the Blair Witch, and not the Blair Witch herself
Even though a lot of people still haven't seen it, I'm going to open up a bit of SPOILER territory here. There's a lot of ambiguity as to what was really going on in the movie, and I'm curious what everyone's theory is.
And what do you all think of the alien theory?
Totally agree. Very lazy and uninspired.
And yes, Book of Shadows is definitely the best in the series.
