Sounds like a plan! I'll have to hop on Cinemageddon also.
I've heard that the extra minutes that are cut are just padded scenes to fill out the run time and not any gore cut out Can anyone actually confirm this?
I was pretty excited about this release and couldn't wait for it to show up tomorrow but now I feel like I'll be more motivated to drive to my parents house, pick up the VHS tape, drive back home, hook up the VCR, and watch the tape than I will be to unwrap the BD, put it in the HTPC, and watch it. I'll probably do neither though.
I love how Bill is going to talk to the director, like there's any chance that won't be anything more than a fishing expedition for excuses.
According to the brief comparisons I linked here and the one quoted here it sounds like the stuff that was cut out was not filler but some of the more sleazy content it had.
Why do they keep mentioning that he’s “in a nursing home at the end of his life” are they trying to guilt fans who are complaining? Because this is on Code Red and Dark Force. It’s not our fault they didn’t bother to check the running time before they made the announcement (TWICE).
The next DARK FORCE DRIVE-IN RELEASE #6 will be in conjunction with CODE RED DVD and will feature the 1980 Lucio Fulci drive-in classic THE GATES OF HELL plus another drive-in horror movie to be announced. This is the first time the movie will be released on disc featuring the opening credits with THE GATES OF HELL main title! Nothing could be a greater fit, this is slated to be Dark Force's biggest retro drive-in release to date. Stay tuned for more exciting details on this mega-release and don't forget to pick up the entire Dark Force Drive-In series when the Dark Force Superstore reopens this weekend!!:
This was supposed to have been a Scorpion release, so I'm thinking we may have just found out what it was that was "so deceptive and evil," a couple month ago.
This is sure to make the Arrow and Blue Underground discs obsolete.
You know it.
??????? What? We're kidding right?
Oh yeah, it's easily going to blow away all of the existing releases. Dark Force and Code Red are the last word in quality.
It's hilarious that both the Code Red and Dark Force threads on the Blu-ray.com forum got closed and locked due to all the bullshit on there. Not too surprising though, since there were some obvious paid "shills" — and it started to eat them back in the ass as a result.
My order arrived today. Is he handwriting the addresses on all his mailers? That must take forever! So much faster and cheaper to do online, you'd think that'd be a no-brainer for a business doing that volume of shipping.
Kind of regret The Last Victim, but oh well. Lesson learned. Never again.
This must be about something else. I have a hard time believing that someone would rather have his brother dead than give up the distribution rights to something like The Gates of Hell.
I'm under the impression he'd already put a lot of time and money into his release. I also get the impression that he really, really HATES DeFalco.
I asked the same thing on another forum and he replied that he only handwrites the addresses if you pay via credit card. If you pay by Paypal, he just prints out a shipping label through them.
... it's not as though it's hard to print out address labels anyway.
"cool US drive-in retro nostalgia"
The guy who paid $10,000 for an OLED TV just to recreate that drive-in retro nostalgia on.
So Forced Entry...
Is it safe to assume the 75 minute cut has the 72 minutes and then some? Or are these radically different cuts with alternate footage?
In other words: what version do I watch?
